Kåre Tveter

Kåre Tveter was educated at the Norwegian Academy of Fine Arts, Per Krogh and Alexander Schultz. He was considered one of Norway's foremost contemporary artists.   Kåre Tveter - The painter of the light. He was known for painting landscapes, like autumn and winter moods in deep foliage and with minimal color use. He came to Svalbard for the first time in 1982, and since then he has been hit by the Svalbard light. He is therefore referred to as "the painter of light". Kåre Tveter neither painted, photographed or sketched sketches while on Svalbard. He instead gathered his impressions and retrieved them when he returned to his studio where they were transferred to the canvas.
