Conference 2003
Pencil and watercolor 30 x 40 cm (11 ¾ x 15 7/10 in)
Considering the almost abstract form of Autumn Forest created in 1967, it is not an unexpected discovery to find that Tale moved on to create a total abstraction in his art. Undoubtedly his drawing helped Tale towards this path.
Conference is one of the earliest drawings in which Tale explored the exciting synthesis of two main strands in his abstract work - the calligraphic and the bio-morphic - in this context the term bio-morphic refers to evolving organic structures.
Tale also introduces restrained, subtle tones of the primary colours. Creating their own space, the coloured forms, defined by the use of calligraphic lines, swirl, spin, flow, float as if in slow motion
'action-replay'. In this way Tale generates a barely suppressed, bubbling excitement.
